PRIME Rentals has attributed its success to the strong performance of its equipment, such as its JCB telescopic handlers which are part of the company’s materials handling range for hire.

The Central Queensland rental equipment business was established in 1995 and now offers one of Central Queensland’s largest rental fleets based from its head offices at Gladstone. It also has branches at Mackay, which was established four years ago, and Emerald, which has been operating for about 18 months.

Mackay Branch Manager Kyle Rogers says Prime Rentals has grown to become a general hire company offering a full range of plant and equipment to the mining industry. Its ranges include welding, compressors, elevated work platforms, forklifts, telescopic handlers, light equipment and power generation, complemented with a diverse range of specialised equipment.

Prime Rentals has 22 JCB machines in its fleet, with another two recently delivered. The JCB line-up predominantly comprises the 3-tonne 530-70 and 3.5t 535-95 Loadall telescopic handlers. The Loadalls due to arrive will handle 4t.

Rogers says Prime Rentals had been the preferred supplier to a number of major mining sites in the region with the machines for the building of Coal Handling Prep Plants (CHPPs).

This had included the Hale Creek expansion over eight months; the Moura mine site; Lake Lindsay, where 12 JCB Loadalls were deployed for 14 months and which involved 22 kilometres of overland conveyor from pit to plant; Lake Vermont over nine months; and the Clermont mine site.

Rogers claims the robust design of the Loadalls was well highlighted at the mine sites. He said the back-up service and support for the machines through the local JCB Construction Equipment Australia branch at Mackay was also “well above average’’.

Rogers says the machines are a superior product and for reliability and return on investment, JCB machines are outstanding. He claims that feedback from customers has been that they are a beautiful machine to operate – that the fork is an extension of your hand, and the running costs are low.
