MICHELIN has announced it will be introducing a new tyre for mining loaders for the first time anywhere at Intermat 2009.The manufacturer says the XHA2 has a lifespan up to 9% longer than the brand's previous models.
The supplier says it has added more rubber in the tread for equipment that transports heavy loads over sometimes rough terrain.
The XHA2's sidewalls, which are exposed to shocks, have been given protective ribs and shields.
The company claims machinery running on the new tyre will gain enhanced traction that ensures greater speed and less forward resistance, resulting in lower fuel consumption.
Michelin says the new, deeper tread patterns reduce the amount of vibration transmitted to the loader, for the benefit of the machine's mechanics and the operator alike. It also cuts down on rocking caused by heavy loads during a change in direction.
