CONPLANT has introduced the Ammann AP240H to the Australian market.
The supplier says it can now offer mining industry customers a choice between hydrostatic and mechanical transmission on large pneumatic tyred rollers.
Conplant says the AP240H is a hydrostatic transmission roller offers easy manoeuvrability, and smooth and reliable forward and reverse operation.
Jim Harris, Conplant’s National Sales Manager says many customers would already be familiar with the Ammann AP240 with mechanical transmission, which is the large pneumatic tyred roller market leader here and globally, commanding over 40% of the segment in 2008. He says contractors now have the choice between this proven workhorse and the new machine, which has the heart of the AP240, with a hydrostatic transmission.
The hydrostatic drive ensures sensitive and reliable propulsion and protection against overload, and a huge fuel tank makes it possible to run the machine for up to 25 hours before a re-fill is required.
Harris claims the hydrostatic system on the AP240H is unique in that the brakes are located within the torque hub on the wheels, meaning no mechanical linkages that could potentially fail for greater reliability and safety. The machine also provides excellent operator comfort, with a sliding and swivelling seat — a feature that is not available on any other hydrostatic roller. Because the controls, steering wheel and pedals move with the sliding seat, the operator can move to the best position for optimum visibility, without compromising on comfort or safety. Other operator-friendly features include a tilting steering column which contains the dashboard. and the cab itself is fully enclosed with integrated ROPS and FOPS protection for safety and comfort.
Like the AP240, the AP240H is designed for easy servicing and maintenance. Service points are said to be easily accessible, and the Cummins diesel engine is both powerful and reliable.
The AP240H has a maximum operating weight of 24,000 kg and a one wheel load maximum of 3,000 kg. Static weight can be varied from 9.35 to 24 tonnes and front isostatic suspension gives even pressure across the tyres. The front wheels are grouped in pairs for easier steering, while the kneading effect of the tyres gives excellent compaction.
Both the new AP240H and the mechanical transmission AP240 can be fitted with Conplant’s patented anti-rollover system, ROPS 2. ROPS 2 is said to dramatically reduce the likelihood of a rollover, providing peace of mind to both the owner and the operator.
Conplant is the only company to offer both hydrostatic and mechanical transmission options in the large pneumatic tyred roller market.
